Top 20 Albums Worldwide
Week 33'26 · Aug 14 – Aug 20, 2026
Last week's number 1 is at 7. Seven days ago that sentence could not have been written: every position on this chart was a debut, and nothing at all had survived from the week before. This week 14 positions are still new arrivals, but six records carry a history here, and three of them came straight off last week's countdown. Four of these albums have not been released yet, and one of those is sitting at number 2. The record at number 1 was on this chart before it existed. A black metal album narrated by a pony. Synthesizers played at a Joshua Tree observatory by the light of the moon. A Nottingham band that spent 16 years as a corrupted CD-R in a charity shop. Let us count them down.
This Week's Story
14 new arrivals, six records with a past, and a chart that has started holding onto things again after a week when it held onto nothing. Britain led three entries, Germany three, Canada one, and America took everything else. Four of these albums do not exist yet. The one at number 1 is seven days old and had already been on this chart twice before it came out. Godflesh at 12 and Phoebe Bridgers at 1 turn out to be the same story told from opposite ends. Seven days.
