Lammoth

Lammoth is the solo project of Robert Sanford, a black metal artist working out of Asheville, North Carolina, since 2021. His music takes the least metal subject imaginable - hobbits, their gardens, their ponies - and sets it to tremolo riffs and blast beats laced with the kind of nostalgic, video-game-inflected synths that belong in a handheld RPG more than an extreme metal record. On 2024's Tales of Treachery, that contradiction became a genre unto itself: a debut built on cozy dread, evil enough to convince and warm enough to return to. Onward, his 2026 full-length, pushes further into blackgaze and chiptune territory and tells its story from the perspective of a pack pony rather than a hero, extending Sanford's habit of finding comfort inside darkness instead of writing around it. He writes, records, and performs every part of Lammoth alone.
