yoo doo right

Yoo Doo Right build their songs the way a glacier builds a valley: slowly, insistently, until the accumulated pressure of guitar loops and motorik drums reshapes whatever room they happen to be playing in. The Montreal outfit, anchored by guitarist Justin Cober and drummer John Talbot, take their name from a Can deep cut, and the debt to krautrock's hypnotic repetition sits comfortably alongside the width and haze of shoegaze. Their 2022 album, A Murmur, Boundless to the East, earned a longlist nod for the Polaris Music Prize, an honor repeated in 2025 by From the Heights of Our Pastureland. Live, the band is known for stretching songs well past their studio runtimes, layering pedal chains and tape recordings into something closer to a fifteen-minute fever than a set. Their fourth full-length, tracked in part at a Montreal studio with a pedigree that includes Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Wolf Parade, arrives via the Mothland label in November 2026.
