Fontaines D.C.

Fontaines D.C. write post-punk that moves like a sharpened blade rather than a wall of noise - taut, urgent, and built around Grian Chatten's flat, incantatory Dublin delivery. Formed at a Dublin music college in 2014, the five-piece built their reputation on the strength of language as much as riffs, turning debut album Dogrel into a Mercury Prize nominee and a Rough Trade Album of the Year. Each subsequent record has pushed the sound further from its post-punk roots, culminating in 2024's Romance, which debuted at number two in the UK, went platinum there, and earned the band two GRAMMY nominations and a BRIT Award for International Group of the Year. Their fifth album, Dopamine Chamber, arrives in October 2026, produced by James Ford and described by the band as a colder, more synthetic turn away from the guitar language that defined their early work. Fontaines D.C. remain a Dublin band by instinct even as their audience has gone global, writing songs that treat the city itself as a character worth arguing with.
