Max Cooper

Max Cooper holds a PhD in computational biology, a fact that shapes his music as much as any influence: he treats composition as a way of making structure audible, building tracks around a single governing idea until the pattern resolves into sound. Born in Belfast and now working from London, he has spent close to two decades pairing rigorous, techno-rooted electronica with audio-visual collaborations built alongside mathematicians, architects, coders, and filmmakers, work that has found its way onto stages as varied as the Acropolis, the Barbican, and the Pompidou Metz. His albums tend to orbit a single concept - memory, consciousness, the architecture of a scientific idea - rather than a genre, and his remix catalogue runs from Nils Frahm to Hot Chip without ever settling into one lane. The label he founded carries the same instinct: less a discography than an ongoing experiment in what electronic music can model.
