Steve Wynn

Steve Wynn wrote his first song at nine and co-founded The Dream Syndicate in Los Angeles in 1981. The group's 1982 debut, The Days of Wine and Roses, became the cornerstone record of the Paisley Underground and one of the albums critics point to when tracing a line from the Velvet Underground to the Pixies, Nirvana, and most of the American indie rock that followed. He has since released more than thirty albums, spanning a solo catalog that began with 1990's Kerosene Man, the reunited Dream Syndicate, and side projects Gutterball and The Baseball Project. His sound sits somewhere between Crazy Horse and a hardboiled detective novel: guitar-driven, psychedelic at the edges, often darker than the melodies let on. In 2024 he released Make It Right, his first solo album in over a decade, alongside a memoir drawing from the same autobiographical well. He lives in Queens, tours roughly a hundred nights a year, and has taken to calling himself a cult artist.
