Sallow Moth

Sallow Moth is the death metal concept project of Garry Brents, a Dallas multi-instrumentalist whose output is prolific enough to alarm anyone who tries to keep track. Founded in 2016, the project threads a single sci-fi and horror story across its discography, a saga of Mothlords, warring civilizations, and esoteric artifacts that Brents writes, plays, and records almost entirely himself. The music moves restlessly between technical and brutal death metal, with detours into jazz fusion and progressive rock that recall Cynic and Edge of Sanity without imitating either. For years Brents donated the bulk of his digital proceeds to animal sanctuaries, a quiet counterweight to the guttural chaos. In late 2025 drummer Allen Gingerich joined, turning the one-man project into a duo, and the pair's first album together, Hydrophilous Brood, arrives in July 2026 on Willowtip Records.
