Lee Scott raps from Runcorn, a Cheshire new town he describes in terms closer to science fiction than social realism - his own label calls the sound Industrial North West New Town Retro Futuristic Philosophical Ignorant Rap Music from outer space, and nobody has improved on the description since. He started in 2003 with Salar as Antiheroes, co-founded Blah Records in 2006, and turned the label into a self-contained rap cult that has absorbed Children of the Damned, Cult of the Damned, Mcabre Brothers, Hock Tu Down and Cult Mountain. His records pair deadpan northern wit with rhyme schemes dense enough that the joke usually lands a bar after the punchline does; Anthony Fantano called the 2015 High Focus album Butter Fly a thinking man's hip hop record, and the label has been named among the UK's independents worth paying attention to. He produces as often as he raps, has worked with Jehst, Homeboy Sandman, Heems, Tame One and Your Old Droog, and published a debut novel, Swan Songs, through Repeater Books in 2021.
