In The Nursery

In The Nursery is the Sheffield project of twin brothers Klive and Nigel Humberstone, who began recording together in 1981 amid the post-punk underground before developing a sound that refused to stay in the genre it came from. Four decades and more than two dozen albums later, the music arrives somewhere between an orchestra pit and a film reel - electronics and classical arrangements over orchestral percussion, built less for the dance floor than for the kind of score that makes the silence feel heavier. Since 1996, their Optical Music Series has produced original live scores for silent cinema classics including The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Man with a Movie Camera, and The Passion of Joan of Arc. The music has appeared in Game of Thrones, The Aviator, Interview with the Vampire, and Beowulf.
