Fresh from the news of her recent Mercury Prize recognition, the genre-defying producer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Emma-Jean Thackray shares a brand-new rework of her single, “Save Me” (EJT Remix). Already a highlight in Emma’s recent DJ sets, the remix has been road-tested to rapturous response on dancefloors across Europe and the UK. Reimagined by Thackray herself, the remix propels the original into full club mode. Anchored by wonky basslines and razor-sharp drum programming, the track teases the vocal hook, heightening the tension before exploding into a crescendo of warped vocal chops and rolling arpeggiators. The result is a late-night weapon that’s equal parts hypnotic and unpredictable — a reminder of Thackray’s fearless approach to sound design and production. The release follows the huge acclaim for her latest album Weirdo, celebrated for its audacious fusion of jazz, electronics, and club culture, and hailed as one of the year’s most inventive records, released via Brownswood Recordings (the recent Mercury nomination marking their second release in the label’s history to be recognised by the award). Thackray is poised for a landmark moment in her career. Emma stands apart as a true auteur, the only Mercury-shortlisted artist this year to have written, performed, produced, engineered, and mixed their entire record themselves.
