Released relatively early within 猫シ Corp.'s catalog, this album is naturally as classic as classic vapor can tend to be. Flipping rnb, jazz, and some muzak-type samples into a new context when the concept was still fresh within a small collective of artists' minds, "The Future Is Here (Home Edition)" is an interesting artifact of the time in which it was created. Even so, it still stands tall today due to both striking aestheticism and a highly curated and reworked selection of tracks that fit together succinctly. The original eight tracks appear quickly and disappear after only as long as they are needed to set the mood, with a slow, crawling opener in the form of 'Night', which immediately segues into the main sound of the album with '室内装飾 Catalogue'. After getting into the swing of things, the tracks keep a relatively upbeat and markedly laid-back feel to them, ultra-curated for a very particular, very condominium-living feel. Originally released alongside a previous re-release of the album in a value pack were four additional tracks, which are now also available with this reissue of "The Future Is Here (Home Edition)" by itself. If you've never heard them before, they each expand on the feel of the album with longer runtimes, exploring themes and concepts from the main release while also applying new experiments to the samples being used.
