Allah-Las

Allah-Las are a four-piece from Los Angeles who formed in 2008 out of a shared shift at Amoeba Music, where three of the members bonded over crate-digging before Miles Michaud, Matthew Correia, Spencer Dunham, and Pedrum Siadatian settled into the lineup that still stands. Their early records traded in reverb-soaked garage rock and surf jangle steeped in 1960s pop, the kind of sound that got them onto the 2015 Coachella bill and earned their self-titled debut a spot among the decade's better psychedelic albums. What began as retro homage has drifted somewhere stranger. Recent work leans on krautrock repetition, hazy instrumental storytelling, and open-ended arrangements, a progression that runs from the cinematic Calico Review through Zuma 85 to Sirenas, their first fully instrumental album. Alongside the band, the members run the record label Calico Discos and the long-running music podcast Reverberation Radio, both extensions of the obsessive listening that started the whole thing.
