Younger Brother
Younger Brother is a psychedelic electronic duo built from two of the Twisted Records label's most respected names: Simon Posford, the producer behind Hallucinogen and Shpongle, and Benji Vaughan, known solo as Prometheus. Their name is lifted from a Kogi prophecy, in which the indigenous Colombian tribe reserves the title "Younger Brother" for the people of Western civilisation — a reference woven directly into their debut album's DNA. Three studio albums trace an arc from pure studio electronica into full band territory: A Flock of Bleeps (2003) became a cult document of underground psytrance, The Last Days of Gravity (2007) pulled vocalist Ruu Campbell into the fold and came one place outside a Mercury Prize nomination, and Vaccine (2011) arrived with a live lineup that included Joe Russo and Marc Brownstein. The sound across all three sits somewhere between precision-tooled synthesis and the looseness of a room full of musicians who genuinely want to see what happens next.
