Wild Pink
Wild Pink is the New York band of songwriter John Ross, who took the name from a can of shrimp he spotted in a Greenpoint grocery store. Ross grew up in Florida on Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, favoring Wildflowers and Tunnel of Love over the obvious hits, and that heartland lineage runs through songs that turn small, everyday observations into something close to cosmic. Across six albums the sound has swung from the orchestrated, star-gazing sprawl of A Billion Little Lights, to ILYSM, written in the aftermath of Ross's cancer surgery, to the loose, distortion-heavy Dulling the Horns, recorded live in a single room. The 2026 album Still Coming Down brought in MJ Lenderman, members of Wednesday and Meg Duffy of Hand Habits, while Julien Baker had already lent her voice to the earlier single "Hold My Hand."
