Wet Leg

Wet Leg went from a two-person project on the Isle of Wight to a Brit Award for Best New Artist on the strength of one deadpan song about a chaise longue. Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, friends since they met at an island music college, founded the band in 2019 and broke through in 2021 with "Chaise Longue," which collected millions of plays before the pair had played many proper shows. Their self-titled 2022 debut topped the charts in the UK and Australia and won two Grammys; Moisturizer, released in 2025 as a full five-piece, went straight to number one in Britain. The sound is jagged, witty indie rock with post-punk bones, built on droll lyrics and guitars that swing between sweet and feral. The jokes are dry, and the band trusts them to land without explanation.
