April Harper Grey started burning beat loops onto CDs from her father's computer at six years old and never quite stopped tinkering. By thirteen she was posting dubstep tracks online; by twenty-one her debut album *fishmonger* had landed on The Atlantic's year-end list and caught the ear of Travis Barker. She writes, records, produces, and engineers everything herself, cycling through hyperpop, Midwest emo, country twang, and electropop with the restlessness of someone who gets bored the moment a template forms. Her 2023 concept album *Wallsocket* built an entire fictional Michigan town around twelve tracks and an alternate reality game, then earned near-universal critical acclaim. Her third album *U* arrived in March 2026, pulling the sonic palette toward dance-pop while keeping the obsessive world-building intact.
