…Once the Ty Segall band had got done the right thing, ie get back together to play some shows and make an album, they came up with a new slow version of “Love Fuzz” (from Twins) at the shows. It got really crazy and was fun to jam on, like passing the band and everyone in the room through eternities. It was super cool, but it wasn’t really anything to think about as they were putting together the component parts of Chrome. Once at the studio, songs and album came quickly together. Then, there was time to slow down. And for time to end, and eternity begin its reign. Consider “Love Fuzzz” and “My Pet Guru,” as musical reflections from mirrors of eternity. “Love Fuzzz” is frenzied sludge & stoner doom; “My Pet Guru,” hypnotic art psych fried-kraut air. True dual melts going down between Ty and Emmett’s guitars throughout both songs, while Ben, Mikal and Evan span and fulfil the heaviest order, with width and depth on keyboards, bass and drums. Epics! Cave-dripped reflections from mirrors of eternity, rock approaching slow molten! Between the two numbers on either side of this 12”EP are 26 minutes of time that will add so much to your future and past. Recommended for those with a liking for Sleep, Sunn O))), Guru Guru, Ambarchi/O’Malley/Dunn and “Maggot Brain,” as well as fandoms for the music traditions of Groundhogs, Mott the Hoople, Captain Beefheart and Captain Beyond - if not already checked in!
