The Hotelier
Worcester's The Hotelier began in a Massachusetts high school hallway in 2009, first under the name The Hotel Year, and grew into one of the defining acts of the emo revival. Their 2014 album Home, Like Noplace Is There turned a regional cult following into an international one, landing on year-end and decade-end lists and earning a place among the genre's essential records. Christian Holden's raw, melodic songwriting, driven by dense guitar interplay and lyrics about trauma, gender and social failure, has carried through two further albums and festival stages from Barcelona to Chicago. More than a decade on, the band still tours, with anniversary shows celebrating the record that made them.
