The Garden
The Garden is Wyatt and Fletcher Shears, twin brothers from Orange County who have spent since 2011 building a genre nobody else can join. They call it vada vada, a term they coined to mean total creative freedom, and in practice it sounds like bass and drums shoved through breakbeats, hardcore riffs, sour synths and the occasional surf guitar figure. Their father drummed in the punk band Shattered Faith, they briefly modeled for Saint Laurent, and they have played Coachella twice, none of which quite prepares anyone for the live show. Six albums in, from the cassette-era Life and Times of a Paperclip in 2013 to Bootleg in 2026, the sound keeps mutating while the two-piece skeleton stays exactly where it was. Both brothers also work alone: Fletcher makes electronic material as Puzzle, Wyatt runs the rock-leaning Enjoy.
