The Front Bottoms

The Front Bottoms are Brian Sella and Mat Uychich, a New Jersey duo who met as ten-year-olds and have been making records together since 2007. Their early sound was acoustic guitar, hard-hit drums, and Sella's rapid conversational lyrics about bathtubs, bad decisions, and people you cannot stop calling; the guitars later filled out and got louder without sanding down the nerve in the vocals. The first two albums were self-released while Sella worked at a ShopRite and Uychich did landscaping. Signing to Bar/None in 2011 produced their self-titled debut, followed by Talon of the Hawk in 2013, and the move to Fueled by Ramen for 2015's Back on Top opened a run that includes Going Grey, In Sickness & In Flames, and You Are Who You Hang Out With. The band takes its name from a line in the film Sexy Beast, a choice Sella has never bothered to defend.
