Tara Clerkin Trio

Tara Clerkin Trio are a Bristol-based three-piece - vocalist Tara Clerkin, her partner Sunny Joe Paradisos, and his brother Patrick Benjamin - who emerged in 2020 from the city's communal-living music underground. Their sound layers droning harmonium, upright bass, oddly accentuated woodwinds, and Clerkin's melodically precise voice into something that gestures toward trip-hop and acid jazz without settling neatly into either. Two EPs on London's World of Echo label each went to multiple represses; their 2026 debut LP "Somewhere Good" - a sprawling 40-minute set of psych-pop, washed-out breakbeats, and dubby balladry - drew BBC Radio 6 Music airplay and a Pitchfork review. The group originally numbered eight before trimming down to its current form, which may explain how three people consistently sound like considerably more.
