Steve Poissant and Sam Griffin are not brothers. They met in 2007 at a Detroit-area coffee shop, where Poissant heard Griffin play classical guitar and decided the two of them should be making music together, and they have been arranging video game soundtracks for two acoustic guitars ever since. The sound comes from the pairing itself: Griffin on nylon strings, Poissant on steel, one warm and one bright, with no drums, no overdubs, and no attempt to disguise the fact that the originals were written for sound chips. Their catalog runs from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild through Persona 5 and Mario Kart 64, alongside three collaborative albums with Dan Avidan of Ninja Sex Party. The duo tours the United States regularly, playing clubs and anime conventions for audiences who already know every melody by heart.
