Sarah Davachi
Sarah Davachi is a Canadian composer and performer whose music unfolds at the pace of slowly dissolving sound - organs, synthesizers, and strings held long enough for overtones to separate from their sources. Born in Calgary in 1987, she spent over a decade at Canada's National Music Centre researching and interpreting historic keyboard instruments, an apprenticeship that shows in the weight and patience of her harmonic language. Her compositions sit where minimalism meets early music intervallic practice and electroacoustic studio technique, drawing on alternate tuning systems and extended durations to reshape how the familiar and the distant register. Commissions from the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Brussels Philharmonic, and London Contemporary Orchestra place her work in the concert hall as readily as the laboratory; in 2026, La Biennale di Venezia awarded her the Silver Lion.
