PISS

PISS is a Vancouver four-piece that began in 2024 as a vehicle for the poetry and short fiction of vocalist Taylor Zantingh, with Tyler Paterson on guitar, Gavin Moya on bass and Garreth Roberts on drums. Three of the four came from indie and folk circles, and only Zantingh arrived with a hardcore past, which may explain why the band's noise sits so close to spoken word, sound collage and archival samples. Their live set opens with content warnings and treats sexual violence as subject matter to be examined, not decorated. The first show, a half-hour at a DIY room in April 2024, was meant to be the only one. Two years later they had sold out headline dates in eight countries and signed to Sub Pop, all before a proper release beyond three demos. Their debut album, you made me / skin on linen, recorded with Colin Stewart, is due on 30 October 2026.
