PANIXPHERE

Panixphere formed in London in 1983 as a thrash band and then took forty-three years to release a debut album. The group is built around guitarist and singer Christian "Bic" Hayes, whose working life runs through Cardiacs, Levitation and Dark Star, and its current lineup pairs him with bassist Jon Poole and drummer Bob Leith, both also Cardiacs alumni. For most of its existence the band was closer to rumour than discography: a handful of high-profile shows on the British psychedelic circuit in the early nineties that survived as fan-traded bootlegs, one Cardiacs cover on a 2010 tribute compilation, a split single with Spratleys Japs in 2020. Gods and Zeros, thirteen tracks recorded in Brighton, mixed in Westbury and mastered in Prague, finally arrived in July 2026 with guest turns from Jo Spratley and saxophonist Chris Anderson. The sound is angular, loud and stubbornly English, built on lurching time signatures and vocal lines that refuse to resolve where a listener expects them to.
