Osees
Osees is a Los Angeles rock band fronted by John Dwyer, a songwriter so prolific the group has put out twenty-eight studio albums since 1997 and changed its name eight or so times along the way. Formed in San Francisco as a solo freak-folk project, the band has since burned through garage rock, krautrock-inflected jams, hardcore, and sample-based experiments, sometimes within the space of two consecutive releases. The current lineup of Dwyer, bassist Tim Hellman, keyboardist Tomas Dolas, and the twin-drum attack of Paul Quattrone and Dan Rincon has held steady since the late 2010s, anchoring what was once a revolving door. Live, they are known for feral intensity: Dwyer hoists his guitar to his chest, sticks out his tongue, and riffs at the pace of a man with something to prove. The band's label, Castle Face Records, was founded by Dwyer in 2006 and has also released records by Ty Segall, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, and White Fence.
