Orcutt Shelley Miller

Orcutt Shelley Miller is a San Francisco avant-rock trio formed from three veterans of the American underground: Bill Orcutt, whose incendiary fretwork defined the noise-rock band Harry Pussy; Steve Shelley, the drummer who anchored Sonic Youth for three decades; and Ethan Miller, the psych-rock singer and guitarist behind Comets on Fire and Howlin Rain. Their self-titled 2025 debut on Silver Current Records — captured live at their very first performance, in Los Angeles in April 2024 — lands somewhere between Neil Young & Crazy Horse and a free-jazz trio that has listened to too much Captain Beefheart. The three bring histories that only partially overlap, and the space between those histories is where the band lives: raw group improvisation that locks into song form, then detonates it.
