O'Flynn
O'Flynn is the recording name of Benedict Norris, a London producer and DJ whose records make electronic dance music sound like it was played by people in a room rather than assembled on a grid. His 2015 debut single "Tyrion" became a fixture in Four Tet's sets, and by 2019 the album "Aletheia" had carried him from underground 12-inches to an eighteen-date UK tour. He builds tracks from clattering hand percussion, samples that sit slightly out of tune, and a stated preference for the crunch of 1960s recordings over the cleanliness of new gear. Releases have arrived via Blip Discs, Ninja Tune and Hundred Flowers, the label he founded; in 2022 he wrote "Otomo" with Bonobo and released "Shimmer" alongside Frazer Ray, a record shaped by speed garage, breaks and hardcore. Later singles lean into disco warmth without surrendering the polyrhythms, and his live schedule runs from Phonox residencies to Boiler Room and Pukkelpop.
