Margo Price
Margo Price left Aledo, Illinois at twenty and spent thirteen years in Nashville playing bars, waiting tables and losing bands before anyone outside East Nashville knew the name. Midwest Farmer's Daughter ended that in 2016. It was cut in three days at Sun Studio in Memphis, it put her on Jack White's label, and it earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist two years later. Her sound sits in the outlaw country tradition and keeps wandering off from it, picking up Memphis soul on one record and psychedelic rock on the next, held together by a voice that sounds like it has been arguing with somebody all night. She sits on the board of Farm Aid, wrote a memoir about the lean years called Maybe We'll Make It, and released Days Of Unrest in July 2026, a set of recordings drawn from the causes she has spent a decade on. Rolling Stone calls her country's wildest truth-teller, and she has done nothing to discourage them.
