KNEECAP

Kneecap are a Belfast-born hip-hop trio — Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí — who rap in a mixture of Irish and English, treating the language itself as an act of resistance as much as a stylistic choice. Their sound fuses rave culture and drill with the storytelling weight of Irish rebel music, their lyrics careening between drug-soaked nights out in West Belfast and sharp-edged republican politics, often in the same breath. The 2024 album Fine Art and the BAFTA-winning biopic of the same year broke them internationally, earning praise from Noel Gallagher, Elton John, and Cillian Murphy among others, while their Sundance-winning film became the first Irish-language feature to screen at the festival. They remain one of the rare acts capable of packing festival tents in languages most of the crowd cannot speak.
