Kinetic Orbital Strike

Kinetic Orbital Strike is a Philadelphia hardcore band named after a Cold War scheme to drop tungsten rods on cities from orbit, which turns out to be a fair description of the music. Formed in 2022 by players drawn from Power Trip, Pollen, Impalers and Dark Thoughts, the group works squarely in the Discharge lineage: distortion stacked into a wall, drums played like artillery, vocals pitched somewhere between a warning and a wound. A demo cassette that December drew enough attention to earn a vinyl pressing through Phobia Records, followed by The True Disaster, a second EP cut from the same recording sessions. Their debut full-length, The Terrifying Power of Bombardment, appeared in July 2026: thirteen short tracks, self-recorded and self-engineered, about nuclear confrontation and the various other ways the species has arranged for its own end. Critics have placed them alongside Anti-Cimex, Disclose and Framtid, which is less a comparison than a set of coordinates.
