Kid Lib

Kid Lib is a jungle DJ, producer, and label operator from Sheffield, UK, whose productions hew so closely to the 1993-96 rave blueprint that Rupture co-founder Mantra described an upcoming release as sounding like it came straight out of 1994. The music is bright and punchy rather than dark or atmospheric - breakbeats sliced tight, basslines saturated enough to rattle a floor, and a sense of momentum that favors joy over moodiness. He runs two Sheffield-based imprints, Green Bay Wax and Off Me Nut, with a strong vinyl focus, and records under several aliases including DJ Mindhunter, Peter Darker, and Retron 0ne. A fixture in the modern jungle revival alongside Tim Reaper, Coco Bryce, and Sully, Kid Lib has been releasing records since the mid-2000s and has built a catalogue unusually deep for a scene still finding its footing.
