Inferi
Inferi is a technical melodic death metal band from Nashville, Tennessee, founded in 2006 by members of the defunct outfit Death Looks Promising. The name draws on both the Latin word for "hell" and a Harry Potter reference to reanimated corpses, which suits a catalog preoccupied with fallen angels, gnostic horror, and apocalyptic weather. After a brief dissolution and a 2011 reformation, the band broke through with 2014's The Path of Apotheosis and cemented their reputation with 2018's Revenant, which charted at #26 on Billboard's Hard Rock albums and featured guest appearances from The Black Dahlia Murder's Trevor Strnad and Arsis guitarist James Malone. The current lineup pairs vocalist Stevie Boiser with guitarists Malcolm Pugh (who also runs genre label The Artisan Era) and Sanjay Kumar, alongside drummer Spencer Moore. Their latest album, Heaven Wept, arrived in April 2026.
