π. Διονύσιος Ταμπάκης
Father Dionysios Tabakis is a Greek Orthodox priest who serves at the Church of Panagitsa in Nafplio and records alone, at home, where Byzantine liturgical tradition meets fretless electric guitar and DIY electronics. Born in Piraeus in 1972 to a family of Asia Minor descent, he trained in Byzantine music theory and is fluent on qanun, oud, cümbüş, ney, zurna, Politiki and Pontic lyra, kabak kemane, and yali tanbur. His debut album Paradise Metal, released on Heat Crimes in collaboration with Thessaloniki's elhellhel label, bends microtonal church modes through amplifier worship, techno pulse, and shoegaze drone. He is also a prolific author whose books move between Athonite monastic thought and the texture of contemporary life.
