Christopher Horne records as christ., the full stop marking an abbreviation of his name rather than anything scriptural. He came up inside Hexagon Sun, the loose Scottish collective from which Boards of Canada emerged, and was credited on the original pressing of Twoism before leaving the group around 1995 and later asking that his name be removed from the Warp reissue so his own work would stand on its own. Since the Pylonesque EP in 2002 he has built a catalogue of analogue synth layers, broken beats and tape-worn melody, spacious music where the gaps between the notes do as much work as the notes, running through Metamorphic Reproduction Miracle, Blue Shift Emissions and the archival curio volumes drawn from four-track recordings made between 1993 and 2003. His December 2003 live session for John Peel at Maida Vale remains the only occasion on which the DJ is known to have asked for an encore. He has toured the UK, Europe and Japan, and has released through Benbecula, his own Hyperact imprint and Parallax Sounds.
