cEvin Key (born Kevin William Crompton) is a Vancouver-raised Canadian musician, producer, and composer who co-founded Skinny Puppy in 1982 - one of the defining acts of the electro-industrial genre. Over four decades he has shaped the sound of underground electronic music through a web of projects: Download, The Tear Garden, Cyberaktif, Hilt, Doubting Thomas, and a prolific solo output released through his own Subconscious Communications label. His synthesizer and programming work sits at the intersection of industrial noise, ambient texture, and experimental electronics; as a solo artist his recent records lean into modular synthesis and abstract sound design. He remains actively releasing material into his 60s, with the 2025 Tear Garden collaboration Astral Elevator and a steady stream of archival digs through his celebrated Brap and Forth series.
