Calibro 35
Calibro 35 is a Milan-based instrumental outfit formed in 2007, when Grammy-winning producer Tommaso Colliva gathered four of Italy's sharpest session musicians for what was supposed to be a one-off studio experiment in re-recording obscure 1970s cop-film soundtracks. The experiment never ended. Across more than a dozen releases, the group built a catalog of cinematic funk so convincing that Dr. Dre sampled it for Compton and Jay-Z lifted a cut for "Picasso Baby." Their members have individually worked alongside PJ Harvey, Mike Patton, Stewart Copeland, and Muse, and the band itself has shared stages with Roy Ayers, Sun Ra Arkestra, and Thundercat. In February 2026 they performed at the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Verona.
