ba. is a Vilnius band whose name doubles as the initials of its founder, Benas Aleksandravičius, who first posted songs online at sixteen without a record label and quickly outran Lithuania's mainstream pop acts in views. The band sings exclusively in Lithuanian, a deliberate choice Aleksandravičius has held across every release, drawing early comparisons to Bombay Bicycle Club for atmospheric guitar work tinged with post-punk - and later expanding into layered electronic production. Their 2019 album H8 topped the national charts and spent over ninety weeks in the rankings, certified platinum, capping a run that began with a gold-certified debut and two further platinum records. By their tenth anniversary, eight M.A.M.A. award wins and a sellout show at Vingio Park confirmed what the early view counts had suggested: ba. is the standard against which Lithuanian alternative rock measures itself.
