Amyl and the Sniffers

Amyl and the Sniffers formed in Melbourne in 2016, four musicians who wrote and recorded their first EP in a single twelve-hour stretch. Fronted by Amy Taylor, whose feral stage presence has drawn comparisons to Bon Scott and Chrissy Amphlett, the band builds its sound from pub rock's blunt riffs and punk's short fuse, then adds a glam sneer for texture. Their third album, Cartoon Darkness, swept the 2025 ARIA Awards, taking Album of the Year, Best Group, and Best Rock Album in a single night. The band has since supported AC/DC on their Australian stadium tour and picked up Grammy and Brit Award nominations along the way. Taylor's lyrics run toward blunt feminist commentary and working-class frustration, delivered with more bite than polish.
