held and her sister songs, reciprocity and reflections <3 afromerm’s debut three-track EP expands on the soundworld of held, afromerm’s debut Bancamp-only single, born out of a live improvisation. Described as an “elegant and eclectic soundscape” by independent publication Get In Her Ears, and included in Martha’s Sonic Innovators on BBC Radio 1, held explores the duality of wanting to accept love and care and feeling undeserving. reciprocity is similarly conflicted; it is a piece about balancing your inner world with your relational world – the internal and the external, getting lost in thoughts, versus present, reciprocal care with those you love. reflections acts as an ambient bridge between the two, meditating through vocal/flute conversation on the EP's core themes: vulnerability, interdependence and care. The project features afromerm’s long-term collaborators, YUIS on concert flute and Marysia Osu on harp.
